Textiles are the backbone to the garment and fashion industry as well as the home furnishings industry. Apparel design is a diversification from its parent learning i.e. textiles. Apparel design for fashion or function is a process of combining the technical and visual elements of the material (mostly fabric). Therefore it is essential to study this subject as an integrated course. It also provides the students with an opportunity to provide services in a varied felid as a Textile designer and/or pursue further studies.
